How we helped to build a global cybersecurity start-up
In 2019, our former colleague Matěj met Internet security enthusiast Michal Čížek. He had already been in the VPN business for 10 years and had a new enterprise product in mind that he needed marketing for. However, seasoned entrepreneur Michal was not a classic visionary with infinite self-confidence and a clear desire to conquer the world with his product. On the contrary, he even considered selling the company. Therefore, Pospolu not only guided the marketing strategy but also played a key role in clarifying the vision—both for Michal and for his two co-founders, Martin and Jirka.
A revolutionary application that makes the security of business applications so easy that it can be secured even without the need for cooperation with IT specialists.
Vision and communication strategy
At the beginning of 2020, we started a series of workshops where the founders clarified their plans and where they also decided to get investment and become a globally successful company.
To accomplish this, it was necessary to establish communication that would bring the revolutionary product closer to companies and investors. The core message was simple: the product enables companies to secure their systems in such a way that even a project manager can do it in just a few moments. However, explaining the product in its full complexity proved to be a significant challenge, requiring the creation of clear metaphors to make security principles more understandable to those outside the field.
Company name and visual identity pilot
Once it became clear that the company was confidently aiming for global success, there arose a need to consider a name that would be universally understandable. The original name, Samohyb, simply wasn’t functional. During joint workshops, we first clarified the concept of the company's brand, and then ideas for new names naturally followed. The name GoodAccess perfectly aligned with the brand we defined. The only task left was to infuse it with the necessary emotions through graphic design.
Pitchdecks and first investments
With a refined visual identity and polished communication, creating sufficiently convincing investor pitch decks was no longer a challenge. These led GoodAccess to find its first Angel investment at the end of 2020 and, by mid-2021, a full-fledged investment from a venture fund Nation1.
Product optimization, development process tuning, and design system fundamentals
One of the main benefits of GoodAccess is its simplicity and clarity for people without deep IT knowledge. Therefore, user experience plays a key role, and this consideration guides the development of new features. However, our work extended beyond design and UX research. Together with the GoodAccess team, we also fine-tuned the development process, taking into account the needs of design and development while relieving the founders from the burden of being deeply involved in the design process.
We also began working on a design system that creates a consistent user experience across the product while streamlining both design and development. We introduced this systematic approach to the young development team, who gradually adopted it as their own.
Second version of visual identity and redesign of both desktop and mobile apps
The year 2022 was marked by many significant changes that further prepared GoodAccess for the next investment round. One of these changes was an evolution in visual communication. GoodAccess needed its own visual world, which was to be reflected in its products. This led to a collaboration with the talented illustration studio Tip Top. Together with Tip Top, we conducted a large brand workshop, where it was decided that the best metaphor for GoodAccess is the mysterious and occasionally dangerous underwater world. We also created the initial illustration concepts for the main products, which Tip Top then further developed.
Another major project was the creation of a new version of the mobile apps through which company employees connect. Alongside mobile versions for iOS and Android, we also designed desktop versions for Mac OS and Windows. All apps also have a dark-mode option.
